Hi. Does anybody know how this family was created? If you already have it it's the UK_Portal Frame. If you don't I've attached it. I just can't get "into" it i.e. I can't reveal the construction geometry, can't separate the bracing from the rafter, can't see how the top of the girder was cut to conform to the pitch angle etc. etc. If I get the right pointer I'm sure I'll be able to take it from there (hopefully!). Thanks.

Its been created by nesting familys then linking the parameters. If you really want to investigate open the family and save out the nested families then you can see how it has been setup.

Aha! That's all I needed. I didn't know about the "Save to Library" command. It makes a lot more sense now. I didn't realise that "assemblies" of families - I guess that's what Revit calls nested, were only accessible from their individual files. It's interesting that the families being nested don't need to exist outside the nest; don't need to be referenced, but that you must create the individual family in order to get at the basic construction history.
