I have cut a floor into 5 differerent slabs, each with it's own name. I assign materials to one and the other 4 assume the same properties. How do I make each slab maintain it's own material property?

In the properties dialog click Edit/New then Duplicate and give the new slab a unique name. Then change the material to be whatever you want. Repeat until you have enough different slabs for your project. You could leave them as one type of slab, and use the Paint Bucket to paint them with a different material. I guess you said 'I have cut a floor into 5 differerent slabs, each with it's own name'. So, it sounds like you have the first part right. When assigning materials have you been duplicating the material type, or just changing the type each time. Try, for instance, if your material is carpet and you want another carpet, you will need to duplicate the carpet material type, then change the material within that type. Hope this leads you in the right direction. ArchWestCY
