How do I cut the toposurface and build a swimming pool?

I don't know much about toposurfaces, but I tried a little sample. This is what I did. I used split surface from the site menu. I made a rectangle, then I pressed delete on my keyboard and now I have a hole in my toposurface. Don't really know if this is the most elegant way to do it, but it worked.

Here is a simple way if you have a "flat" toposurface- use a Pad to create the shape of the pool you require and then apply the site - water material to it then a little bit of a path or tiles around that and there you have a simple way of indicating a pool on your site plan. Hope this helps
