we have Radeon 9550 video card installed on our dual screen computer.
the issue we have is that the child windows within revit enlarge accross two screens not the one corresponding to the child window.
we did not have this problem when we were using Nvidia Geforce 5200 previously.
Is there a way to resolve thia problem?

I did not know you could use dual screen on revit. Please let me know how you got it to work.

Yes, I currently use a Nvidia Geforce 5200 setup and it works just fine. But for Revit I would like to be able to drag the view windows outside the revit (application=main window) window to the other screen but it will only go their once I have maximised revit (application=main window) across both screens. This somewhat creates confusion I would like to retain revit (application=main window) to a single screen but still be able to drag the view windows to the other screen. Not sure if it is possible?
The settings for the Nvidia Geforce 5200 is quite vast and I have tried everything but with no success. Is their something I can do to enable this.

Revit doesn't support dual screen very well at all.
My experiences are the same as yours. I settled for using Revit on one screen and using the other screen to view another applications such as Outlook, AutoCAD or Acrobat.

I have had quite the opposite experiance. I love using Revit on Dual Monitors. I have the parent window streched across both monitors, and I have child windows set to one monitor or the other. It is really quite easy, and also has a way to maximize a child window accross both screens, if I need to. We are using nVIDIA Quadro FX 3450 video cards. If you go to the Advanced settings of your video display, and then to the Desktop Management tab (on my software it is to the left of the window). Under Desktop Management go to the Windows tab. Under Window control there are several checkboxes. The third one down says 'Enable window spanning across multiple displays'. As a sub heading under that I have a checkbox that says 'Enable child widow spanning across multiple displays.' I have the first one checked and the second one not checked. This gives the effect I mentioned above.
I know that the ATI software works differantly. Is it Cadalyst? I would look around in the video software for something that discribes the window behavior, similar to the way nVIDEA does.
Good Luck. I hope this helps some.

ArchWestCY, I found those settings exactly the same and it helps a little, except now the child window snaps to only one of the monitors its OK I can drag any other view to the other monitor and since the purpose of this would be that I want to edit an integral part and have different views open to see what is happening around the corner for instance.
Many thanx.

Cool. Now, try restoring your parent window to just one screen. Then, maximize your child windowinside of the parent. Then maximze the parent to doth screens, and you have a child window that stretchs all the way across. Subsequent child windows will also be dual monitor until you restore one. Then, you are back at the beggining with child windows snapped to one screen. Just restore, maximize, and maximize to get back. I like to use 2 views on 2 monitores so that I can watch the effect of what I am doing in another view.

Doing it exactly just like that works great. However I have picked up on something if I work in the child window now on monitor 2 and lets say nominate an item to hide it will only hide in the view (Parent view) hosted by monitor 1 Seems as if monitor 1 has superiority of some sort. Anyway its great to utilise both 21"monitors at times when I need to visualy observe what exactly I'm doing.
Have great day from sunny South Africa.

Thank ArchWestCY for your help.
I followed your advice and it worked perfectly except when the child window
is minimised and then enlarged the application reverts to a single screen.
Many thanks once again.
i can do my work more efficiently now!
