the question is WHY? why would you want to do that? is it so you can have people working on a floor at a time? this is not a smart solution. first, you won't have one guy looking after all the different building element on one floor, but someone looking at ONE element through the project. second, you start to get away from how Revit works and that will create more problems down the line... now that 9 does not need to ask for permission it is much easier with worksets. i suggest you break dow your worksets to building elements. I wish I had read Eldados' response here a few months ago.   I sorted a project by level, and created so many problems that now no one wants to even use worksets even though we are worksharing.

The advice to sort by elements seems obvious in hindsight, but I think it takes some experience to understand how to use many tools in Revit to their best advantage, especially if coming from years of CAD production background...

Question what if you are working on 1 building with several people. The first 3 floors are different from eachother. then you have 10 floors who a nearly identical. and then you have two top floors that are different again.

How would you approach this if you would want to work on this with 3 people. (construction is set) facades are not.

I would still break it to it's elements, you don't want 3 guys doing the same amenities on different floors.

there will be one person doing the facade, other might look at setout and dimensions and so on... it is better for a person to do one thing throughout the project, that's better for quality control...

Here's a question.  What if you were trying to work with a contractor who is using the model for BIM estimating? Meaning they would like the model organized according to their estimating breakouts.  Could the model be organized by uniformat level 2?

You could yes but it would take a long time and probably provide more problems than it would be good for. I have sucessfully set up an arch model up and created it with worksets per floor so that i am able to coordinate in Navis for an unnamed contractor. we are also doing the mep/fp the same way.
