I am working on a building and my boss would like to see two options for the roof. I did the tutorial on design options so I decided to try it out on this project. My problem is one roof is a gable and the other is a hip. I have set the primary roof as the gable option and the hip as the secondary. I attached the walls to the primary roof but when I show the secondary roof the walls go past the roof and it will not let me attach them. I get the following message "No element in a secondary Option can be referenced by an element outside that Option". So how can I show the walls different in each option. Do I need to set up a wall option as well?

Anything that changes from one design option to another must be included in the options. So if your walls are changing height, then they need to be included in it's respective design option (ie: the tall walls should be included in the design option with the primary wall, the shorter walls with the secondary option. You don't necessarily need to set up a seperate option for the walls, just include it in the option for the roof. Essentially think of it this way: each design option should included everything that that specific change will affect. So if by changing the roofs, you have to chage the wall heigh, size, type or have to change a window somewhere then it needs to be included in that design option. HTH.

You fell victim to one of the classic blunders. The most famous is never get involved in a land war in asia, but only slightly less well known is this! Never go in against a Sicilian when death is on the line!
