An interesting puzzle and I hope someone has a good idea as to how I can solve this one. I'm a structural engineer and I've built a Revit Structure model for a large warehouse building. The central file is saved on the server and myself and my colleague are using local copies and worksets to work on the project. The architect is working in the same office and they have created their Revit Building Model based on our Structural Model. So they have linked the structural model to the building model and are using copy/monitor to use the same grids and floor levels as us. Once they created the building model, I decided to link their file into the structural model so I could work with them closely to co-ordinate with them. Here is where the problem is.... The architect so far has modelled Basic Walls and some doors and they need some openings in the structural floors. When I link to the Building Model I can not see their walls in my structural model BUT I can see their standard doors !! The attached image shows the structural model on the left with no walls and the architects building model on the right with walls and doors with our structural model in half tone. Any suggestions / ideas as to why I cannot see their walls ! I've tried changing the visibility settings. I've played around with creating families the same as the architect all with no success. I look forward to your comments.. Ronan Hong Kong

First off i haven't used revit structure much so if i'm wrong sorry in advance, i presume the architect is using revit building. if he is the basic walls are "non-bearing" you need to change them to a structural wall in proberties its under the structural tab. hope this helps.

I'll assume that you've already tried the following, but I'll suggest anyway, after the architectural elements have been saved to the central file: in Visibility Graphics under the Model Categories tab, make sure that the 'Show Categories From All Disciplines' is checked. You should then be able to see all elements. Tom

I posted the same message on the Autodesk forums and I got a good reply... In the view properties window there is a discipline specific setting. When you set that to "Co-ordination" the Revit Building is visible in the Revit Structure model. Thanks for your tips Ronan

Hi I've been trying to link an architectural revit to my structural with only limited success. Co-ordination shows the building but it's limited in that my 3D North view does not show the walls (non-bearing) and on the (3D) view I have the walls showing and the curtain wall window panels don't show on either. In elevations, the arch. walls and curtain walls appear and yet I cannot highlight the curtain wall but I can the regular walls. Another question to do with this is since I am structural linking the architectural does that mean structural is the host? I've checked off in the visibility/graphics for everything to be seen and checked anywhere else so did I miss something? The previous messages within this thread helped a lot so mucho thanks.

Okay so double check the model check list in visibility/graphics. I needed to tick off on the list curtain panels, etc. ARRGH!

Check with detail level and model graphic style.
