Is there any way to create or import complex linetypes as used by civil engineers and surveyors in autocad into Revit? To keep documentation looking the same, I need to be able to create linetypes which are not standard dash and dot format -----O------- _______//////_______ Some linetypes also need to have text in them. Is this possible in Revit?

Have there been any updates since 2006 in Revit's capability to handle more complex linetypes? Surely there must be a way to draw gas lines, storm lines, etc. with text or symbols in the line. Is the answer just creating a repeated detail by itself? If so, I don't understand why the workaround posted above requires a line and THEN a repeating detail...why not just a repeating detail with the line built in?

Ok, thanks for the lead.

That still doesn't seem better than just a repeating detail with the letters or symbols just drawn in. Is this the best way to do it? How do your offices do existing electric lines, high temperature water lines, etc.?

Try this family I have.  It is line based so all of the text will automatically fall into place as you draw what you need.
