I've altered my crop region to zoom in on a particular area of a floor plan, and while everything else outside the crop region is hidden, the room tags still remain, floating out in space? Help?

that's right.
the same will be for your text, annotations are view specific and they do ignore crop regions...
just delete, or use VV to hide
