I have an existing building which is standard face brick, which is being extended in concrete blockwork. The whole of the building is then being rendered. If in my new work phase I paint the existing surfaces, in the existing phase they appear as rendered. If I am trying to show existing elevations, and new elevations this makes the existing elevations wrong. Any ideas on how I can fix this?

The only real solution would be to create a new wall for your render finish and place it on existing walls in the new construction phase. Unfortunately the paint tool can't have its own phasing.

Thanks, that was the only solution I could see. I guess it is somewhat logical since additional thickness would be added to the wall It will however generate a lot more work when it comes to cutting out existing doors, windows and openings. Thanks again for the confirmation.

Not too much more work. If you've got 2 walls right next to each other (your existing wall and your layer of paint) you can use the Join Geometry tool to join the 2 walls. Your window and door openings from your existing wall should cut through your paint layer wall.

Thanks - I'll try that. As long as it doesn't change the phasing all should be well.
