I am trying to get revit to use the count filter to count up how many rooms I have made. Is it possible to make one schedule that will count all the rooms that are named the same and show the count?

Here's a short description of one way to get the room count you're looking for: (let me know if you need more detail of the steps)
1. Go to the properties of your room schedule (or make a new room schedule)
2. On the Sorting / Grouping tab, change the settings to sort by "Name" and check the footer box and select the drop down menu item that says "Title, count, and totals"
3. The schedule will now sort by the unique room names and total them in a footer.
