I have tried to export ODBC via excel file, but i am having trouble understanding how the hell it works. It makes no sense to me. Is there a way to export the Materials Section from Revit to an Excel file? I would like a print out of it so that I can check all of my materials, their assigned colors, etc. Any help would be great. If anyone can give me some details step-by-step instructions on the exporting of OBDC to an Excel file, that would be cool too. Thanks

Hello there,

If you are merely trying to get a schedule into excel format, you don't need OBDC.  All you need to do is got  to your schedule.  Then go to file>export>schedule.  It'll save it as a delimiter text file.  Then go to Excel.  Go to Data>import external data...>import data.  Go find your .txt delimiter text file and you'll get a few dialogs to edit your excel layout.  I just leave as default, and click finish.  You'll see all your schedule in.

Now you'll probably have to edit it a bit as you lose merged cells etc.  But a lot easier than typing it out!

Hope that helps,

Lorne
