when I do the rendering I get always bizzare effects - the lines are not parallel. at the edges of the building they form almost a diamond effect. has anybody had this problem?

sometimes get that effect at low res, try it at a higher res. if you post a jpg of your project might get a better idea

i sometimes get that at low res, try doing the res at a higher resolution, if you post an image of your rendering might have a better idea of whats wrong.
