i'm using an acad dwg for my detail but want to tag the revit wall i'm calling out
i turn off all revit items and leave my acad dwg on in the detail view
the tags turn off when the wall or floor is off
i need to display the wall tags in my detail callout but i don't want to show the wall it depends on. this also goes with floors. is there a way?

I would think you should be able to just turn off all Revit things except the tags in visibility grafics.

Tags rely on the underlying object to be present in the view. If you turn of the diplay of an object like a wall then the wall tag will turn off as well.
You best bet is to stay 100% Revit especially since you have the walls modeled. Failing that you can simply use detail lines to draw a wall tag or develop a "dumb" annotation object.
You could also try to keep the walls displayed in you view and set the View Properties to display the model as an "underlay" which will tone it down.
