Whenever I put model text into my project, it comes in Mirrored. it won't mirror to rightside up using the mirror command. Any thoughts?

Try selecting the reference plane that you want to work in from the other elevation. For instance, if you selected the ref plane from the left side elevation, try selecting the same ref plane while in the right side elevation. That should give you the correct orientation for the text.
