Let me say for starts that it is totally cool that you can sweep a CAD detail before I go into what I don't understand about the process. Part 1: Unless I am missing something, there is no way to pull a view window out of the Revit work area. This is highly detrimental when wanting to use multiple monitors and either view the same model from different views in larger windows or view two projects at the same time in a larger window. Part 2: For example, when you want to put a CAD detail into a sweep family and you have to first create a detail component out of the CAD file, then load the detail component into the sweep family and then load it into the destination file. If an adjustment is required one then has to go to the detail compent - modify it, load into the family and then load into the project. Multiple monitors and free floating windows would really expedite this. Is this the best way to get cad details into families and into projects and why can't we bring a CAD file into the family directly. I assume that is a software issue that can not be circumvented?

?? you can bring a CAD file directly into the family... That said the method you're using at the moment sounds the best approach to me. I haven't used multiple monitors so i don't know all that much about it. Best to check the Augi forums as multiple monitor setups have been discussed in depth there. HTH.
