I'm a newbie to revit and a current job requires Door tags with the door number over the Room number. As the door number/mark is a standard revit parameter I have no problem however there is no parameter for room numbers and when ever i try to create a parameter, it shows up as a red question mark when loaded into the project. Any help would be appreciated

You will not be able to have the door tag automatically report what room its associated too using the automated room numbers that revit associates to each room. Unless of course you are right into programming and make use of the API.
The questionmarks are showing up red because the shared parameter that has been created for the door tags has not been loaded into the project and associated to doors. Go to settings-->family category parameters and add the shared parameter to doors.

Thanks. The parameter is associated to doors in the project parameter settings. (I assume this is what you were talking about with family catagory parameters) I can now get that info to show up in the doors properties, however it is not visible in the actual tag. any sugestions?

Also it would seem it will be created as a shared parameter, is it possible to make it a instance parameter

Thanks for the origional advice - I was creating another parameter in the project rather than loading the one i had already created - thankyou for the help, works fine now
