When MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) plans instruct contractors to "field verify" and report discrepancies before bidding, it underscores the importance of assessing the actual site conditions against the design documents. This step is vital because existing conditions may differ from the plans due to outdated information or unforeseen changes on-site. Accurate field verification helps identify potential issues early, allowing for necessary design adjustments and more precise bidding. This proactive approach minimizes costly change orders and project delays, ensuring that the construction process aligns closely with the project's realities.

Yeah that "field verify" line is like the hidden fine print of every MEP drawing—basically saying, trust the paper, but trust your own eyes more. Plans are theory, site is reality, and the gap between them is where budgets usually bleed. Catching it early is less about paperwork and more about honesty with the ground you’re building on.
