I need HELP I am using 2D drawing in Autocad(R) for several years ( also extrude 3D) is there a best way to translate my 2D to REVIT now i can only see that importing 2D dwg files from ACAD can only be used as a trace line for revit IS THAT SO or am i still missing some Good procedures I wanted my 2D dwg to be translated easily to revit THANKS for HELP ~~ ANY

you are correct you cannot directly translate your 2d autocad files into revit files HTH

MAny thanks Coreed for immediate response. means after i imported my 2d walls unto REVIT i will have to redraw all parametrically then i will have to delete my acad layers after all if i am doing my 3D project many thanks again

I would "link" the CAD file into Revit rather than import it. There is a "link" box that you can check and the link then acts like an xref. When you are done using the ACAD file then go to "manage links" and delete it or simply select the linked image and hit the delete button. Linking the file in will ensure that no unwanted remnants of a CAD file remain in the Revit file. Tom
