Is there a way to add a break on the dimension line?

Are you wanting the dimension line to actually break or just have the symbol there?

Either way I think the only way to do this in revit is to make a 'Line Based - Detail Item' family that reports the length using a label. You can then set paremeters and ref lines to get the dimension to act and look how you want.
