Hey Guys, i am new on revit and currently trying to model a project in revit. Its a multistorey building with G+1 parking and another 8 floors residential, till now i have placed beams, slabs till 2nd floor (i.e first residential floor) and placed all the walls. My main goal is to abstract the accurate quantities of the finishing materials (that includes tiles, granites, paints, electrical, plumbing etc). Now, after placing walls i am creating a door/window family to place on walls. So my question is... Can i add Granite as a door/window framing material instead of wood and later take the quantity of the granite in SquareMeters??. Also, Can i add Veneer sheets over the flush door panel, wood frame and later take the quantity takeoff in SquareMeters??

What you are asking for is way too complicated for a begineer and some of it can not be done at all.

  • If you model correctly, you can take off wall tile and floor tile areas because you would model those as an applied element to the substrate.
  • Paint is usually never modeled so typically to get those areas, yould would use rooms and some math.
  • Electrical & plumbing would need to be modeled by someone that works in those fields.
  • Door frame volumes can not probably be extracted but the number and type of each frame can easily be produced to apply a known volume to.  The same for the door facing.
