This should be simple but I cant work it out. For some reason my round filled section heads are now always the rectangular type heads. I have loaded the round filled heads from the library and checked that they are listed in the projects family annotations list. Problem is I cant apply them to the building section line. The help says this can be done through the section lines property box but I have no options available there. Also tried cycling through the section heads, no luck there either.

First you need to find out which section tag your section is using. To do this, select the section annotation and open up the properties. Under Type Parameters you should see "Callout Tag" & "Section Tag" at the top. Note the name of the Section Tag.
Then go to settings - view tags - section tags. In the dialog box select the "type" with the same name. Now you can change the Section Head of this Section Tag.
