Hi All

I've got a real conundrum.

I've restarted a project that went off the boil for a while. Client has asked me to change the external cladding from a vertical cladding to a horizontal cladding.

Easy peasy? Yes! ... but no.

For some reason the material (Colorspan Standing Seam) appearance won't change even though the surface pattern has been updated.

I have tried the following:

1. Swap Materials to ones with a different hatch pattern.

2. Removing the outer skin. Even the layer below (with no hatch) is showing the vertical hatch.

3. Tried it in different versions of revit.

4. Looked back to past files ... even early stages.

None of these worked.

The material hasn't got any Paint on it (so unpaint isn't applicable).

Other materials within the file can be updated not a problem ... it just sems to be this wall.

Why are the vertical lines remaining even if the material with the hatch is removed???

I humbly request any help and am willing to share the file to help resolve this.

Revit version 2019 (and also tried on 2020).

The pattern name doesn't mean a lot.  Do you understand that the hatch pattern used for a material is a line representation of the material and typically locked to the render pattern?  This is so you can adjust the pattern.  Try picking one of the hatch lines in a perpindicular elevation and rotate it.

Have you checked element override? Any filters?

Can you upload the file so we can troubleshoot? Just that wall, we don't need entire project.

Hi All

Thank you for the comments.

I've attached the file.

I copied the wall into another file and it behaved itself. Trouble is, I don't want to copy the entire project into another file ... I risk losing too much.

Have opened it on another computer today and getting the same irrational behaviour ... hopefully you can see it too.

WWWHub ... I tried selecting the hatch line ... no go.

As I mentioned before, your wall’s graphics are overridden by element. Reset it and it’s all good.

Done!!!

Thank you.

I don't think I checked it as I didn't think anyone would go through the pain of overriding each wall in every view.

Will be chatting to my contractor about efficiency ...
