Hi all,
I'm doing an MSc in sustainability & adaptation in the built environment and for my thesis I want to explore the carbon cost of a building if it were made from different materials. I have never used Revit before but ploughed through the introductory course at lynda.com so have an idea of what's going on.
I want to do the following:
- Build a model building (I have AutoCAD drawings)
- Swap out the materials it is built from but use all the same parameters, dimensions etc, so for example, switch the structural beams from wood to steel, or change the composition of the walls from cavity block to structural insulated panels, strawbales, natural wood insulation etc.
- Calculate the thermal performance of each model based on the materials (I'll use PHPP9 software for this)
There's more to it than that but that's the part I need Revit for as it seems to allow changing paramaters and creating schedules. Can anyone offer advice on how to learn these areas specifically for starters? I'm learning a bit more each day but really need a more systematic approach.
Thanks
Stephen
