Do any of you find that firms are still holding revit content/details close to their chest and do not want to share the files without first stripping and purging down to only 3D elements, without any views, schedules, sheets, etc?

Obviously consultants will still get your families if you're sharing the model, otherwise there would be nothing to share, so this concept baffles me.

I've heard that details are what they don't want others getting their hands on.  This also baffles me, industry details are pretty standard.  Until you get to unique conditions, well then you can't use someone elses detail anyway.

With BIM 360 I really don't understand why some firms are still apprehensive when it comes to sharing revit models and content.  Can anyone shed some light on this?

I have Revit Architecture 2011 64-bit, but if anyone different knows how to do this in a different year I would but appreciate the help! go to the insert tab> click on Link Revit icon> then decide the file you wish to import> make sure to apply in the positioning pull-down list, auto by shared coordinates. This connection will show you how to share coordinates
