i have roof pitches that are 16"/12". when i place a spot slope on said roof it reads the 16" as something else. i am including a screen shot that shows the spot slope and the dimensions that read the correct slope.

It certainly appears to do that because the triangle appears to match the roof slope.  Makes me believe it is an error in your loaded program.  If you have all the updates installed, then send it to autodesk.
