Hi,

I'm curious who out there has gone through the transition with a group the size of mine and what advantages it really brought to the table.  I'm learning Revit as I get time but I can't imagine how long it would take a team of CAD'rs to get as creative, efficient, or PROficient as they were in ACA.

Please help.

I didn't find the right solution from the Internet.

In the following article I wrote, I took a punt to answer this question. Its a long read (5 parts) but I think you will find some answers.

Good article Beau, I had not read it before now.

dave,

Beau addresses mostly the tangibles but there are other issues.  Your organization has to fully support this process and I don't believe you can expect that without proof in house.  You don't say how large your office is.  Our office was around 45 in one location and another 10 in another office when we started.  Our initial, outside training was for 5 who were very qualified to learn new methods.

Those five then developed their skills with small projects over the next 6-12 months while still using Autocad as needed on other projects.  They also set off on the long road of developing office standards using Revit.  Three of these also started training the remaining staff in small groups of about five.

Learning Revit is indeed intensive but the transition to Revit from Autocad is especially hard and sometimes impossible for some.  Swearing is always heard at the begining but dimishes over time then comes back because the user may have to use CAD.  Be aware that some really good CAD users may even sabatoge (purposely?) Revit projects because it threatens their specialty.  Some end up leaving because the can not transition.
