This seems to be a revit quirk I would just like to use the apply the standard of hatching existing walls black. As I have nominated the existing walls as existing in Properties - Phasing, revit does not seem to allow hatch patterns for existing elements? Can anyone help?

Go to - settings - phases - check from the Phase Filters and from the filter you are using wether you have "Overriden" on existing tap or not - change it if it isn't. You might also create new filter to work with in plans. After that go to next "page" Craphic Overrides and select material for Existing in Phase Status. In materials you can change what ever hatch you might want to see in plans by changing the materials cut pattern. Long story but hope this helped. Post edited on 2006-06-02 06:20:13 More brutal approach is to create "Existing" wall types and make them all by same material, but you lose possibility to show them with their real materials in 3d views - i.e. brick wall wouldn't be brick wall anymore. If visibiltys coarse is enough for your plans then you could just change the coarse setting in the wall type. Post edited on 2006-06-02 06:38:28

If you'll also notice in the graphic overides tab, they specify "Phase - Existing" as the material. You can make other materials to use for those overides. I did this for a custom office standard here and it worked perfectly. Boss was very pleased with the results!

Need help? I'm probably in my chat room!

You fell victim to one of the classic blunders. The most famous is never get involved in a land war in asia, but only slightly less well known is this! Never go in against a Sicilian when death is on the line!
