I am sure this must have been discussed before but I didnt find the relevant post.

I want to create stone coursing lines with varied stoine height. There may be 5 courses of 25 cm and then 1 of 18 cm and one course of 30 cm. The hatch patterns dont give you the oportunity to cretae varied couyrse heights.

I ahve tried using reveals but I found it made the model look very heavy.

Cretaing cutom PAT files looks very complicated - what do peolpe generally do and what would you recommed?

Thanks

Revit has a built in process for this.  You split a layer (as many times as you want) of the wall and assign a different material.  This is all outlined in your help.

Thanks so much - thats a great solution!! - for years we have been using reveals which wasn't the easiest and best way to work from what we saw.

The only question left is if there is a way to control the appearance of the spilt lines - currently my wall hatch lines are all gray but the split lines are black so they stand out - is there any way to define this line style for the slipt lines so they are also gray?

Also if you use autocad you can easily create custom pattern using drawhatch lisp routine. Then import this hatch pattern to revit.
