I'm trying to recreate this residential roof which is on the same plate height. It has a gable roof and below a single plane pitch roof. See attached pictures. I drew up 2 separate roofs to but can't join them.

I'm using Revit 2018

Can anyone help me out please?

Dont join them, make them as two separate roofs. Do the larger one and in plan cut it in exactly how you want it to terminate near the lower roof. That is - cut 45 degree angles at the hips and cut a straight gable end. Give no roof pitch angles to the hips or the straight gable end only give roof angles slopes to the eaves. Finish that roof and check it is correct. Now do the lower roof exactly to the plan that you want. That is, cut the angled hips again at 45 degrees, and extend the uppermost straight ridge to where it needs to sit below the upper roof. This uppermost straight ridge will obviously need to sit under the upper roof, so you may need to work in section and determine how far this needs to sit. Set the angle at the eave line only. Review the completed roofs in 3d and section as you may need to nudge them to make them meet together correctly. For example where the lower roof hip roof lines meet the upper roof dutch gable, you may want to cut back the roof so they don;t overlap. You will need to place a wall for the dutch gable infil. See images below.

Thanks Beau...I'll give it a try later on. Good explanation...I was hoping I could make it one roof but your explanation sounds more feasible.
