im pretty sure this is super basic stuff, but i need to create a "dynamic" detail callout that behaves similar to the one we used in AutoCAD. i need to make it similar if not exactly like it.

dynamic -a force that stimulates change or progress within a system or process....   I don't understand your use here.

Revits callouts don't control anything - they are responsive to what you do and will update with changes you make.

If you are just wanting your callout to look like what you posted, say so.

Rude? .... Aw come on, are you really young?..... Just asking you to clearly state what you want and you still have not.

Is this a detail callout... a section callout?

What do you mean by behaves?   This is not autocad so you will have to learn Revit.

What is your problem with the Revit stock item - how do you want it to function?

Hi.The Revit callouts will automatically rotate to suit the paper orientation. This ensures the text within them is horizontal and correctly oriented. If you click the detail reference tag, you have the option to amend it in numerous ways via shifting the blue nodes that appear - this includes:- Adjusting the shape of the area that you want to refer to. (Up in the ribbon you can also choose to change that shape to a non-orthogonal shape)- Adjusting the location of the reference bubble to wherever you want in your view.- Adjusting the leader's shoulder to suit your drafting standards. These are all quite dynamic in nature. However if you need to adjust things further, you can create your own. To do this, place a callout tag in Revit and select it. Go to Properties and click edit type. You will see under the parameter Callout Tag a value eg. "Callout Tag 1". Click in the white space next to the word Callout Tag 1" (or whatever yours is called) and a small box will appear to the right of it with three dots in it. Click on this. A new window will open and in the Callout Head Parameter will be the name of the family that is used to create your callout tag eg. Callout Head.  Make a mental note of its name and go to your Project Browser. Go to families - annotation symbols and scroll down to find that family. Don't click on the "+" symbol , right click on the main family name and click edit. This will open up the Callout Head Family within the Family Editor. Here you can choose if you want to add whatever you need or change whatever you need. Once you are done load it back into your model and it will update all of them.Just note that there are setout rules with regards to the reference lines within that callout family that must be abided by. If you don't follow them, then the callout tag will not align with the shoulder/leader line back in your model. This alignment issue can cause problems.Good luck.
