My firm works on a lot of federal projects, and we're contractually obligated to match the US National CAD Standard and A/E/C standards.  I've been able to come up with workarounds in every instance where Revit can't match the standard except one.  NCS requires that section heads be 5/8" diameter, yet whenever I modify my section head to be larger than 1/2", the Section Line protrudes into the head, and it looks very sloppy (See Attached screen grab).  I've tried moving the callout head off center to compensate, but that only works in one direction, so the head in any section cut in another axis ends up detached completely.

Is there a workaround or setting that I'm missing here?  I want to explore all avenues before I have to say "Revit won't let me".  I'm currently running Revit 2017.  If there's no solution, then I'll just have to set it to 1/2".

You can't amend the existing ones. You can however create a new one.Got to new - family - annotations - section head.Read instruction in text in family. then delete text. You must not move horizontal reference line or right hand reference line. You adjust diameter of existing line circle. Shift your larger circle left so the right hand side of the circle aligns with the horizontal and right hand vertical line. Add in shaded regions for pointers. Add in text/labels to correct size. Shift left hand reference line leftward to align with left hand side of larger circle.Load into model.

I've made my own already.  To meet the federal standards, I had to customize or recreate most of the symbols.  I hadn't thought about using a shaded region to mask the unwanted extention.  I'll have to give that a try.  Thanks.

No, I didn't say mask the lines in any way. My description fixes the issue so the extension lines do not extend inside the circle.
