Hi guys,

I am trying to make a nested door family and it seems like I have a problem with the door panel.

Everytime I adjust the width and height of the door, the frame of the door takes the correct position. The door panel seems to stay at the previous width and height, but if I change any other parameter (like the panel thickness) the panel seems to also take the correct width and height.

It's almost as if the 3D view of the door panel is 1 step behind of the new applied parameters. In 2D the panel looks to work properly and immediately follows the new parameters.. Anyone familiair with this strange problem?

Thank you in advance,

Selim

Oh and I am using Revit 2016. Also, a problem which I am trying to fix is that the 2D door swing breaks when it is given a 0 degree swing.

The family I created, most parameters are in Dutch though.

I have not looked at the family.

Sounds like you need to link the parameters of the nested door panel with the parameters of the host family. As for the swing you need to give the angular tparameter to a reference line that will rotate based on angle adn then align and constrain the 2D lines with the reference line so that everything moves together.

Hi Marmiketin,

Thank you for responding! I have already fixed the first problem with the width and height not adjusting in 3D, but I still can't manage to fix the problem with the 2D door swing.. I have made the angular reference line exactly the way you have explained, yet the the family is still giving an error when I choose to close the door (0 degree angle) The 3D door swing seems to be perfectly fine though? Could you maybe take a look at the family and try to figure out what I have done wrong?

Thank you in advance,

Selim

Read this thread for a 0 door swing solution.

Seems like the first problem that I mentioned with the door panel acting weird when adjusting the frame size, is randomly coming back. Almost as if it is a software problem. The parameters of the door panel are correctly linked to the family, the panel is also going into the right position and size if I make a small new adjustment to anything in the family.

Keep looking, I doubt very much that this is a bug of any kind.   Building parametric families takes practice and time.

Elements will associate with other elements even if you don't add a constraint.  When I build wall hosted elements like doors and windows and to keep elements from associating with anything in the host, I like to build them around a work plane that is initially well away from the wall.   Later that plane can be moved into position or used as a location plane.
