Hello,

I have a problem with the visibility settings in revit 2016. I have to built a steel structure with 20 different welded beams.

These beams are subcategorized in "structural framing". So, in the plan view all the beams are of the same color. No matter if i change the material (dublicate steel material with different color and align them to the different sections), no change in plan view!!!

I also created a subcategory object style under "structural framing" but i cant align it to to the beams.

The main problem is that i need to export this file to an autocad file, so the different color or layer in every steel section of major importance!

Thank you in advance.

There are a few ways you can achieve this, but they are all hacks/workarounds

#1. Create a Symbolic line in the family with different colours. You can use on/off instance parameters or you will need to create 20 seperate families though, one for each beam type

#2. Use filters and a parameter value. You could add a shared parameter, or use one of the family parameters (could use beam size if they are all different)

#3. (Assuming you are showing the beams as single lines) You can use the linework tool to override graphics
