i'm trying to create a curved brickwork surround to an arched window. not sure where to start. see attached photo for example. any suggestions.

The arch is just a window surround that you can either create as a family or create as an inhouse family within the project by creating in elevation and using the wall as the work plane. This you can pick up form the tutorials.
If it is the brickwork itself on a render you need, the onloy way I can think of is to create a mask of your photo of the arch (in photoshop) and apply the image as a new material to your arch shape but scaling may be a problem
