I have a toposurface that i want to extend the area of beyond its present extents.

Once i place a point outside the toposurface extents i get an error message, saying something like - place point on boundary then move point - or something like that.

Revit 2016. Please any help appreciated.

Once you have a completed topo, extending it becomes harder.

  • If you are making your topo from a CAD file, it is much easier to modify that and create a new one.
  • To modify an existing topo, you have to grab points along the exterior edge and drag them out.   Then you can add interior points to get those areas back to where they belong.

You can also create a new surface slightly overlapping the other one and use Merge Surfaces tool under Massing & Site tab.

Thank you very much - it was a bit of a chore to get kit working.

I have found that the easyest solution is as follows:-

Select the topography to edit. Click on Edit Surface. This will bring up the dots indicating the level points. Select a dot that is closest on the perimeter to where you want to extend the surface. Use the copy command (CO) and copy it to a position that is very close by (next to it). You should now be able to drag that original dot to the new extended position. Once in place you can change its value to that required.
