Hello,

I've created custom bathroom casework. It has a drop down to change configurations, for example, from 1 door, to drawers, or openshelves.

I have created a drop down menu in a family type parameter. The issue is that everything listed in 'casework' is in the drop down. I just want the 3 options (door, drawer, shelves), but it's taking everything, ie, benchtops etc.

Is there a way to create a new family type?

I have tried object styles with no luck, as the family type parameter doesnt select the subcategories for the dropdown menu.

Thanks in advance.

Most families that have a lot of options use a type catalog.  That means that every combination is a new type in the catalog.

Thanks for your reply.

I suppose that would work.... but I was hoping to have a different set up with a drop down menu to nominate which upgrades the client wants in a particular type.

Ie. Cabinet type 1: Standard Benchtop..... user can upgrade 2 of the doors - to drawers, or shelving.

Cabinet Type 2: has a Fascia.... same upgrades in tickboxes apply.

Cabinet Type 3: has a Tiled Kicker..... so on and so forth.

If I set them up in individual types, it would be Benchtop with Doors, Benchtop with Drawers, Benchtop with Shelves, Fascia with Doors, Fascia with Drawers, Fascia with Shelves, etc etc, which is a lot of configurations depending on how many upgrades will be available etc. Each type is then open to setting up errors and user errors, if I have just 4 types with tickbox options this mitigates a lot of this potential for error.

Thanks again.
