Greetings,

Were getting ready to start yet another wonderful wood frame job. This one is actually a concrete garage below grade up to a pedestal level and then wood frame 3 more stories.  Seems like we do it a different way each time and end up unhappy with the results and the process. Anyone have a wood frame commercial project they would be willing to share as a go by or an example that was effiecient and made some profit?

Thanks

What are you doing?  Do you show all of the stud placements? << Unless you do multi, pre-assembly in a shop, I don't see any reason for this.

concrete slab with walls and framing of wood then truss for the next series of floors.  One project we show the walls as line work the next we do somehting different and were unhappy with that.  We just havent done many wood frame projects that are commercial multi story and to see someone else's project might be helpful.

Wood stud, metal stud, masonry - doesn't make a difference to us.   The wall are defined by our wall types and are shown as lines in plans.  Masonry is hatched but studs are not.   We show the stud framing in detail views.  The structural floor plans show the joists or rafters in plans as a line but we try to use model elements here.

Well maybe if a structural person would chime in that would be helpful.  I generate structural plans not architectural so were trying to develop a standard for wood frame projects.  In autocad we just xref the walls from the architect in and show lines for framing.  Lateral plans we hatch the walls that will be lateral bracing.  Revit whole different animal and I was curious what other Structual folks were doing for their wood frame projects.
