I work on revit projects using linked architecture - adding kitchens and bars to architects models.

Recently I have modelled face based models to indicate electrical outlet positions on walls.

The problem I am having is placing drain pipe pop-ups on floors.

Revit does not recognise linked floors as 'floors', nor does it recognise them as 'faces'.

Which leaves me a little stumped. Can anyone offer a solution to this problem?

Which generic model template should I use if I want to place a model on a linked floor?

you cannot detect the linked model with any of the face based nor the wall or floor based templates , i think you have 2 options either to use workplane families and put your components on levels , or copy/monitor walls ( or Floors ) and use face based or wall based families

Revit has a built in process for this called copy/monitor - rad about that in your HELP.

Hi Elnazer2. Sorry I should have mentioned that I have successfully used face based models on linked walls. I only encounter problems when I try to host these face based models on linked floors.

yes the face based families are also working on floors in 3d views , i just checked that , but then you will have to switch all your families to face based templates , its easier to copy/monitor
