Morning,

My practice specialise in arena design. I have a detialled heavy multiple linked Revit model that I need to move from my practices revit file into a client specific file. Can anyone help on how to do this? My file is rought 200MB and is linked using 6 different models. I need the base build as a starter and it needs to be exact as it is in the original model.

I have tried to link and then bind the model into the new standard file but when i did this i got 3087 errors mainly referrring to overlapping rooms and walls with a lot of elements needing to be unjoined. Need to review this but i dont think it worked very well. Currently trying a copy paste process however i feel this will take a long time and the location will need coordinating in the new file.

Is anyone able to help and provide a breakdown of an easier way to do this as currently i keep loosing information, the base build cannot be a link it needs to be a workable model so that the elements can be changed and altered.

Thanks in advance for any help anyone is able to provide.

Cheers,

G

G

Are you saying the Arena is linked in one revit project and you need to link it into another revit project? Maybe you could link the other way round. Make a copy of the Arena link file and then link in the client specific file and bind that  to the arena file.

The central model that will be shared with the contractors and the clients team is a central linked model, made up of 6/7 linked models. The project is a stadium so the central model is linked of architectural base builld, arena seating, structure, facade, masterplan, MEP and then a few others.

The model is built in my practices format, the clients BIM requirements are extensive and detailled so their Revit file has been setup with relevant page layouts, peramaters etc. and as such I need to move my models into the client template. We have agreed and are happy to link all the models into the clients template however one of the models needs to be purpose built in there and not a link. As such it has been agreed to be the architectural base build model as this will require most frequent changes and so should be the editable one.

I have tired to link and bind the model but just end up with errors and details missing and dissapearing and not coming across. Have also tried and entire copy paste and that just crashed. The file is around 200MB and containts multiple groups, worksets, the works.

Our current solution is to impliment the clients template into our model so that we dont loose information but would prefer to do it the other way around if possible.

Hope this helps

It appears very late to be applying the rules you now want.   Plan ahead is always preferred.

I think you are looking at this backwards.   Binding in your model will only get you model elements.  You need to look at transferring the required standards to your model instead.

Planning ahead is our foremost approach. As an inhereted scheme and still in early stages of design we need to apply these standards now whilst we have the time and capability before we get further into the BIM and design lifecycle where we cant move forward until these required standards are met and then its to late.

We will be applying these standards to our own model as we dont want to loose detailled information and with work closely with the clients PM to ensure that the transferred perameters are beind met.

Thanks for your help
