Hi, I am only very new to revit - so knew in fact I don't know what I should be googling to get the answer I need!

I am a student and I've created a conceptual structure which is fairly complicated and now I need to put a roof on it. I've created the roof piece shapes that I want in illustrator and saved it as a dwg file but now I don't know how to go about making the roof. I'm trying to make the roof quite thin - it's only conceptual so it doesn't have to be structural - but it has to follow the slope of the walls. Could someone give me some advice as to the best way to go about this? I was thinking I could just create a flat surface in the floor plan and drag the ends to the different levels that it has to join to but that doesn't seem to work.

I am super tired and I don't think this makes much sense :-/ Do architecture degrees get any easier???

Firstly you do not need to do anything in illustrator or make a dg file. All you need to do is create a roof by face. This is in the architecture tab and then ther is a dropdown arrow below the roof tool. Select this, select your face that you want the roof applied to and then once done you can select the roof and edit the type to get the exact structure you want.

Hello,

Thank you for your response! I just had a night dreaming of Revit and had a horrible feeling that no one would see my post.

With this model, my centre courtyard is open to the sky so I can't put a dome on it. I was hoping to make flat pieces roof pieces which I can then slope to fit the outer wall profile just like I've done when I'veade a physical model. is that possible in Revit?

Regards,

Tril

Again use create a mass in the shape of the roof you want to make and then apply a roof by face to this mass. Screenshot the situation you are dealing with if you want us to better understand your issue.
