I have have my north point added as a .jpg but would like to be able to change it with in a drawing. Can you make a tag link to a T-block? Would this way be best way? if this is stupid how have others done it?

I've integrated a north pointer into our titleblock that is parametric. Basically its a symbols with an angle parameter that is then linked into the titeblock family to enable it to be change when in a project. I've also added a visibility parameter to it so i can turn it off in section sheets etc... Is that what you're after?

Is there a way to link the angle to project north / true north? or does the angle have to be added manually?

Unfortunately no, there isn't a way to link it to your project/true north direction. It would be awesome if we could do that.
