I was wondering how to make cantilevered roofs. Do you use the basic roof command or do you make a generic family

One thing that you can do is put a wall in the location where it bears create your roof with that wall and then delete the wall. It works great.

You don't need walls to exist in order to insert a roof...

I know that you do not have to have walls to insert a roof. It makes it eaiser when trying to get the overhang to match with the rest of the building.

. You can draw a roof by footprint with or without the walls but there are some 'Must Kmow' behavours. Once you know these tendencies you'll be rock'n Below are a couple great video CADCLIPs explaining the in's and out's of roof alignment and roof edges right click and 'save target as' to download. http://www.dgcad.com/downloads/CADCLIP-REV-VARYING-ROOF-PLATES.wmv http://www.dgcad.com/downloads/CADCLIP-ROOF-EAVES-ALIGNMENT.wmv * Also check out www.revitrocks.com or www.dgcad.com for more free CADCLIPs and tutorials
