[1] If I set dimensions to "entire walls" why are there many 0" dimensions? It's not that there is some small item there, if I set the units to 128ths it's still zero. There is no underlay on. Any way around it?
[2] is there a way to do a "repeat command" like in Autocad? Much wasted time & cliks without it.
[3] A way to set "tag categories" to default to "free end". more cliks and sore wrists.

This is an option with new release of revit (we are using revit structure 3, I think the new building release is 9)

Well If the tags are already on the drawing, it looks like your stuck, have to highlight them and click free end, but when you click tag, right up beside where it says leader on the top menu bar, there is a pull down that says attached or free end... if you set that to free end when you start tagging, they are all free ends.

You are correct though, next time you click tag, you still have to click free end again. Sorry, in structures 2 this was not even an option, for some tags anyway, I missed your key word "default" Revit should default to the last used setting for alot of commands and it doesn't.
