I created this roof by using "cut plan profile" to cut main roof. Is there a way to somehow "cut elevation profile" so the part that is circled in red is not left over?
I guess one would have to create this roof as a solid (which renders with the roof texture on all surfaces) then cover all the fascias, rakes & edges of it with other roof solids that don't have the roofing pattern on them.

Try using a create-in-place void.
May want to consider using that section as an underlay, and then just use detail components to "flesh-out" the actual drawing. Sometimes, we can get carried away modeling these features and we actually spend more time that it's worth trying to get the model anatomically correct.
In this case, you have the condition shown properly in elevation and plan, so using the detail components, and then just turning the model underlay off in that section view would prevent you from seeing the "overlap" portion, without further modeling. There's a fine line between great modeling skills, and just wasting time and effort. I blur it all the time!
Hope the void works! If not, create the roof in place with no texture assigment, and then just "paint bucket" the appropriate faces.

I thought of the paint bucket thing after I wrote this. The only reason for going "overboard" here is that there are several sections needed to deal with the interiors. Thanks.

thought I had it but.... I created the roof as a roof family and it will not accept materials from the "paint can" tool. Also, fascias and gutters don't attache to it. But the geometry is right...Lost the patient, saved the doctor.

You can "paint can" the family but it has to be done while editing it. Guess I'll just do an extrusion on the edges instead of fascias and gutters.
