I must be missing something obvious or else it's just not possbile to do it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Text command, on the options bar click on priorities, in the element properties dialog box select edit/new, in the type properties dialog box select duplicate, give the new type a name, modify as needed... I think you'll find your answer there..
