While trying to convert a sections sheet into a PDF, it hits 60% and freezes. It even crashed the whole program a couple of times. We tried it on 3 different computers in 8.1 but still get the same result. We turned off all planting in the visibility/graphics, and tried it with several different fill patterns to try and simplify the drawing, but still nothing is working. Does anyone have any good ideas on what is going on.

What PDF writer are you using? I have Acrobat 6.0 Professional, but I find that PDF995 does a better faster more complete job. You may want to experiment with it. www.pdf995.com Tom

Another program I use with no dramas is "cutePDF". (It's also free!)

I just had this problem and mine turned out to be too many detail items on the sheet.  My boss wanted a quick roof framing plan sketched out to give to the structural engineer.  I used filled regions for the column locations and detail lines for the joist locations.  When going to print, it would freeze up and crash.  When I did finally get a pdf, it was 10,000 KB in size.  I then replaced the regions and lines with model elements and it printed just fine and the pdf file size dropped to 221 KB.  Valuable lesson - use model elements over detail items no matter what.  Smile  Hope this helps someone else.
