Hi,  I have looked through the curtain wall posts and this seems specific.

I have created a curtain wall of horizontal mullions to create a slatted fence panel.

I then created another curtain wall and used the initial as a panel, setting vertical mullions as fence posts.

My multi-category material takeoff includes everything in my project except for this curtain wall.  I have placed a gate in the wall which does schedule, even though the remainder does not.

I created a simple wall schedule which did show the info I needed, and a curtain panel schedule which showed even more.

What I am wondering is how to create a curtain wall as slatted fence that will show wall area in multi-category material takeoff?

Cheers.

You are doing a fence, not a wall so the results will probably not fit what you want.

You are confusing walls with elements in the wall.  A wall schedule will give you the total area of the wall, not individual elements.   A panel schedule will give you the panels, in this case EMPTY SYSTEM PANELS.  I believe panel area may be to where the poanel ends and that is defined by the mullion.

Thanks for your perspective WWHub. It was all very confusing, but makes sense now.

You can get curtain panel areas into the multi-category takeoff, but not curtain walls or mullions.

The issue I was having was that I had made my curtain panel out of a curtain wall of mullions - The perfect mistake!

I inserted the louvre system from this thread http://www.revitcity.com/forums.php?action=viewthread&thread_id=31382 but it broke the curtain wall.  Obviously there is a way to create a parametric array for use as a curtain panel, and a lot of ways to stuff it up.

If I ever get it right, I will post here.
