Hey guys,

I was wondering if anybody wanted to help me out. I just got Revit 2015 and for some reason I cannot get the families to show up. I have varified that they actually exist in my Library and also they are in the Project Browser. I've tried the select and drag and the right click create instance, as well as a few other various methods. An error message pops up and says "cannot create in current mode". Nothing will work and I'm starting to get really frustrated. Hopefully someone out there has an answer. Thanks

This issue has come up multiple times but I can't point you to the posts.   The problem is that you are in the wrong view and/or wrong process to load the family.   You can open any family into the family editor, pick load into project, then find it in the project browser and place it.  But when using the load option from the revit menu, you must be loading from the correct category for the process you are in.  Obviously, revit would be looking for a door family if you are in the place door process.

In almost all cases, you also need to be in a plan or elevation view, not a 3D view.
