I recently downloaded this door family.

http://www.revitcity.com/downloads.php?action=view&object_id=3295

I haven't seen model units that disappear based on the view detail level before without using the visibility check mark settings. So I'm a bit baffled as to how this person made these elements show on/off in different detail levels. Does anyone have an idea?

Just realized I shouldn't be posting here, but I don't see an edit post option.

To edit a post you click the orange number to the top right of your post. However this only lets you change what you wrote. Moderators are teh only ones that can change what forum a post is in.

Also you can change what detail level different objects are visible at in a family while in the family. You click on the object (lets say an extrusion) and then click visibility settings and it gives you a pop up in which you can select what detail level ( course, medium, fine) aswell as views (elevations, plans, rfps) the object is visible.

Right, if you open the file I think you would see what I mean. The visibility settings for this model are not being used to control the visibility, something else is being used instead.

I think I found the issue. It was visibility settings within family of families
